The bench and chairs will provide my students with more seating options. This will allow for more engagement in the classroom, as some of my students cannot fit comfortably in the traditional student desks. Flexible seating areas within a classroom allow for another option for students who traditionally are not able to sit comfortably for long periods of time in traditional student desks. I teach students of varying needs and abilities. Some of these students are not able to sit in the student desks for long periods of time and currently will stand up in a corner of the classroom. Having flexible seating options for my students will allow them to find more comfortable spaces in which to engage in learning within my classroom. Some of my students have asked about flexible seating options within the classroom. Research I have read shows that classrooms with flexible seating options create an optimal learning environment for student success.
