There are many different online tools, resources and programs that are available for our students that assist them with their reading and math skills. Our school system has invested in some of these. We need more technology in our classroom, in order for our students to utilize them more frequently, to show their growth in the areas of reading comprehension and basic math skills. This is a benefit for all students including general ed, ELL and those with a learning disability. I have a classroom of 24 diverse second grade learners, and not all have access to some sort of technology at home. With Chromebooks at our fingertips, students have more of an opportunity to access these helpful reading and math programs, in our classroom, during center time, or even extra help time. Our building only has one computer lab that teachers can sign up for every other week. With classroom technology access, students will benefit so much more.
