We always hear, "Reading is fundamental." We also hear, "Students need to read and comprehend the information read." Then there is, "They need to apply the information to real-world situations." What happened to, "Students need to develop a sense of pleasure in reading." or "Students need to read for enjoyment and not for a state test." That's the dynamics, I want to change. I would like to change the atmosphere in my classroom, during reading time. I want to announce reading time and they get excited instead of depress. I feel as though flexible seating with the use of the bean bags I am requestig can change the dynamics of this initiative. They can enjoy the moments of DEAR, Drop Everything And Read,realize the benefits reading has to offer. They can realize that a book can take them anywhere in the world without having to move a muscle. They can find a 'new love' just by getting comfortable and snuggling up with a "good book.'
