Being a Special Education teacher I tend to focus not only on students academic needs but there social and emotional needs as well. Using the resources I have requested I would like to set up a calming corner, a designated space in our classroom with the sole intent of being a safe space for my scholars to go to when they feel their emotions are running too high and they need to regain their emotional and physical control. Things such as light filters, help the students with sensory processing problems. The fidgets and chair bands will give the scholars an opportunity to have positive reinforcements. My goal is for my students to have a space designed to support them emotionally and physically help them feel safe and comfortable, allowing them to let down their guard to process different feelings.
