Highly effective teachers empower students to take initiative and arrange the learning environment to meet the activity and specific student needs. Our grant request would allow students to select a seat type that would enhance their learning experience. Research has shown that choice within the classroom motivates a level of responsibility to the task at hand allowing students to self regulate and participate in an activity at a higher level. Our students come in with a variety of needs and it is part of our responsibility as teachers to create a learning environment that best meets those needs. We have 6 third grade classrooms and these desks will be shared throughout our grade level.
