Flexible seating will allow my classroom to be student centered. Collaborative learning and and overall more engage group of young teens will make a huge difference in the way I can teach my students. Allowing my students to choose the best spot in the room for their learning style will increase their interest in the curriculum. The benefits to flexible seating are numerous, but one I care deeply about is the positive impact it can have on my students' health. Standing for an hour, having the ability to keep their feet in motion, or engaging their core while sitting can keep them from remaining in a sedentary state for too long. The stand up desk will give students a much needed break from sitting and can help improve posture! The plastic stacking stools are the perfect height to use at a square table for group work to build leadership and communication skills. The balance ball chair helps improve core strength but also gives ADHD students a nice outlet. The modern geometric square rug is a nice touch to the room to make it more inviting. Small touches like this can make a large impact on students who don’t have a home but rather live in the shelter. The surf portable lap desk will allow students to work on the chrome books while seating cross cross. The bean bag chair will be the perfect reading chair to foster a love for reading. I can't wait to see the positive impacts this will have on my students with IEP's, ADHD, and the general population of very young adults who just aren't quite ready to sit in perfectly straight rows for hours on end!
