Students will be exposed to a real-life account of a young girl who found her way through some tremedously difficult circumstances. While reading, Educated by Tara Westover, I hope to inspire my students to become life-long learners. By internalizing some of the themes and enduring ideas (perserverence and determination) present in the memoir, I hope to encourage my students to embark on a path of self-discovery and self-reliance. We will also use it to help students master the state testing standards, namely citing textual evidence and analyzing texts for rhetorical value.

About my class
