Sharing SCHOLASTIC NEWS, a weekly nonfiction magazine, with our third graders is extremely meaningful and educational. Simply, they love it! But it's $200! Please help. I've spend over $500 a year, and although this is the best money spent, I could sure use the help. Exposing our English Learners to interesting subjects about their lives at their reading levels will definitely help develop good habits in listening, speaking, reading, writing and keep them curious and wanting to learn more about their world. They'll learn to ask good questions and answer in complete thoughts. My goal is for this activity to be student-led, like a book club, with each student having equity in all areas in this literacy activity.
