Bar magnets and iron filings will be used to observe how magnets attract and repel objects. Magnet wands, bars, and horseshoes will assist students to demonstrate different ways that objects can move. Completing these investigations has been difficult with a lack of supplies. A full class of students has had to share a small collection of mismatched magnets which has not been conducive to investigations. Having a fully supplied science magnetic area to conduct investigations will have students engaged in exploration and observation of how magnets interact with objects. Students will be able to work in small collaborative groups with enough materials to be successful.
