Special Olympics Unified Sports is a sports program which successfully facilitates social inclusion by bringing together students with disabilities and without disabilities on teams for training and competition. The creation of athletic opportunities for students with and without disabilities ensures all students experience these outcomes and that a more accepting school environment is fostered. We are working on providing a safe environment where all students can come and build friendships, in hopes that we will slowly break down stereotypes. Participation in Special Olympics benefits students of all ability levels in a variety of ways including character development, fitness, teamwork, leadership, and self-esteem. This donation will allow my Special Olympics team to participate in bowling at State Bowling Tournament with over 500 athletes from around the state. Our team will participate in candlepin bowling.
