The school where I work has a population of approximately 45% African American and 55% Hispanic. It is imperative to give both ethnicities a strong reading foundation and a healthy social/ emotion beginning. I will use the level readers to ensure that the scholars are able to take books home to read at their own pace. The alphabet tub is an awesome way to teach letters, letter sounds, and items that begin with that letter and so much more! I believe it is important to teach our kids that we have emotions however, our kiddos need to be taught how to express themselves appropriately. The playdough is a fun activity to reinforce feelings and kids just love to play with playdough!
