Many of my students are reading below grade-level and this is holding them back from meeting their target goals for third grade. In my state, if the students don't meet grade-level reading criteria, they are required to repeat the grade. Many of my students struggle because they don't have the fundamental skills necessary for comprehending text and understanding language. The Building Vocabulary Listening Center Skill Packs, along with the personal CD players, will benefit my students because the listening centers will help them improve their basic language skills with aural support. My students will be able to listen along with the activities they are working on so they can hear and read the words and sounds of the letters. The best way to improve reading and language skills is to practice reading and listening to texts.
