Our school has invested in the technology based, Accelerated Reader Program, to encourage students to enjoy recreational reading at home. Students are able to take comprehension and vocabulary tests on each book they read, tracking their results. Accelerated Reader teaches students real life skills, such as, pacing and goal reaching, in addition to the valuable comprehension and vocabulary assessments, AR provides on individual books. The best thing about AR is students take a reading assessment each quarter and are instructed to read books within their individual reading range. This allows all students to be successful in reaching his/her goal, at their individual reading level. Students love to watch their progress and work very hard to reach their AR Goal each quarter! My projects' Chromebooks are needed to enable students to take the AR comprehension and vocabulary quizzes in the school library.
