History becomes exciting and is brought to life through performances of historical events. Historical re-enactments and interpretations allow students to get a personal perspective of historical events as well as truly grasp the implications of the time period and the impact it has had over time. When students "become" historical figures they take a step back in time and learn perspective on historical issues and individuals while developing their communication skills and fostering their creativity. With these costumes and props, my students will be able to engage in activities that boost their confidence and inspire them to “learn from the past, live in the present and plan for the future.” These presentations will enable students to analyze the impact that history has in their lives and will bring them deeper into the content. They provide an enriched understanding of the material and serve as a forum for students to express themselves in an objective manner. Students are having fun while they learn and are developing a love and appreciation for history.
