22 of my 31 kindergarten students are English Language Learners attending a Title I school in California. A majority of them receive free or reduced lunch. They have a love for books and listening to their favorite stories. Yet, because many of them come from homes where one or both parents speak only Spanish, their exposure to books being read to them in English is limited to the classroom only. Exposing them to opportunities to listen to stories on iPads will not only give them opportunities to hear the English language, but allow them to develop as young readers. Listening to reading will help them grow into more fluent and confident readers. I cannot control what happens when my students go home, but I can provide them the "lap time" many of my students
