The Yonkers Public Schools are always underfunded. Students use books that are outdated and falling apart. Many times, they are forced to use photocopies in lieu of books or technology because it's just not available. We're asking for resources to help fund our classroom library. These are books that are mandated by the state, but we're not provided with. Our students come from underprivileged, diverse cultures, are ELL/IEP and/or learning disabled. They benefit from an interactive literacy program & thrive when standards are held high. Students look forward to coming into 5th grade because of the integrative literacy program we've created. As a team, we believe reading and writing should be fun, involve the arts...& be a combination of creativity and growth beyond the classroom walls. We're asking for help with this project.. thank you Kindly for your past generosity. We look forward to sharing our work with you.
