I look forward to the amazing things my students will create with these new Maker Space tools such as power tools, glue guns sewing kits and a Cricut! The new Next Generation Science and Engineering practices require students to do hands-on learning and grow skills such as, "design and test a device that emits thermal energy.". These new standards help students engage in the natural problem-solving process. These materials will help them maximize their creative energy. Past engineering projects my students have done (even before having a designated maker space) include Helmets, Carpal Tunnel relief braces, thermal packs and slides sandals.
