My flexible seating choices will help my students to explore a different type of learning environment. One important advantage is to create a less-teacher controlled environment and a more student controlled environment.
Flexible seating will provide students with an opportunity to move around, keeping their young minds awake and focused. I have chosen to ask for flexible seating for my classroom, because it will allow my students to collaborate freely with each other. It will teach about making choices, such as where will I sit? Where will I work the best? Where do I feel the most comfortable?
At the end of the day, what matters the most about flexible seating is that it makes my classroom a fun place to learn. Wouldn't it be great to sit on a bean bag while working on multiplication? It would be so exciting to sit on a floor seat while composing and decomposing a number next to a classmate! Or how about using a wobble cushion while notebooking like a scientist does? I want my students to look forward to coming to my class and make science and math fun!
