My campus has more than 95 percent economically disadvantaged Hispanic students. We are in a rural community and most students have not been across a county line and lack life experience to comprehend all the career options they have. My students lack motivation and parental involvement is next to nothing. There are several teachers in my school who really want to make a difference and we all believe our students deserve the same opportunities as any other students. I have some amazing students who understand the need to excel regardless of their home environment, but I also have reluctant students who require constant motivation and reinforcement.
