Being a Title 1 school, our funds are sometimes low, and only the basics are bought to teach our 300 plus middle school art students. A small handful of students bring some of their own art materials, but most projects are completed using classroom sets from years past. Many of our teens struggle with more than they should with their everyday life in our area. I want the art room to be a place that is safe, fun and full of self expression. My art room is sometimes the first exposure to self-inspired projects my students encounter. Seeing the delight and surprise in their new artists' eyes is a total joy.

About my class
