MY STUDENTS are funny, kind, curious, confident, witty, clever, open-minded, happy, and hard-working...except when they are insecure, shy, stubborn, self-conscious, and exhausted. They are your typical, unpredictable teenagers who are doing the best they can each day. I, THEIR TEACHER, work as hard as I can to provide authentic learning experiences for my students. My teacher brain does not shut off. I am always thinking of my students and working to bring more to them: more comfort, more books, more kindness, and more knowledge. I have been teaching for over 20 years and feel like every year is my first. I love what I do and am so thankful for the opportunity to work with young people each day. OUR CLASSROOM has no desks, no harsh words, and no mundane or meaningless work. Instead, we have comfortable seating, thoughtfulness, trust, choice, and lots and lots of books.
