I am hoping to get a 3D printer/Laser Engraver that students can use for capstone physics projects. Students in the past have made catapults, pinball machines, crash barriers, egg drop capsules, and egg catchers to demonstrate their knowledge of Newton's 3 Laws, forces, friction, simple machines, and mechanical energy. With the printer/engraver, students will be able to design parts for their machines. Students will also be challenged to create Newton's 3 Law's labs for younger students, to introduce them into the creative process of learning about forces and levers, and other topics. I love to let students design and goal set on their own to see what they can come up with. Some of my favorite projects for class have come from a student asking to make a change, or alter, a current project.
