These novels rank as some of the best young adult fiction on the market. All three books, The Outsiders, The Island of the Blue Dolphins and The Tiger Rising will be read in our regular language arts classes in literature circles, discussed by the students, and celebrated. We also have a special class called WIN, which stands for What I Need. The WIN class is targeted toward the acquisition of close reading skills, phonetics, oral fluency, and higher order thinking skills that come along with writing about and discussing great literature. Already this year, we've read four of the titles in our library and look forward to adding these three titles. Any donations will be a great blessing to our small, wilderness school.
