My students are very energetic and crave physical activity after sitting in the classroom all day! Our school is a small community school with approximately 300 scholars. Because we are in Minnesota the bulk of our recesses are spent indoors due to the severe cold weather. With the lack of outside recess, students depend even more on physical education class. The students at this school thrive off routine and set rituals. The entire school is like a huge family with the classroom teachers being the "school moms" and specialists being the "school aunts" while the classmates are "school brothers and sisters". Everyone in the building fits into the family in one way or another building a strong sense of community within the building.
