My introductory psychology students are in grades 9-12, and they are of mixed backgrounds and abilities. They are highly motivated and very hard workers. They are genuinely interested in psychology topics and I currently don't have enough books to satisfy their needs. Our school library is only able to order a few books for this particular class every year, and so we need all the help we can get. Last year I had students on waiting lists for my current books - and this was because they WANTED to read more on these topics, not because it was an assigned project. Reading memoirs about people with OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, etc. help these concepts and disorders more understandable for them.
