The math and science books and learning materials that I'm requesting for my students will help to continue building the foundation for them to become lifelong learners. My students love having books read to them and having a variety of manipulatives to play with. So, during circle time, I like to tie in the books I'm reading to the learning activities we are doing to make a more meaningful connection. Once it's been introduced, the students will have many more opportunities to play and explore on their own or in a small group. By donating to our project, you'll be helping my students build on their eagerness and curiosity to learn by pairing their love of literacy to fun and engaging math and science activities. With such young learners, if the materials look fun, they are more likely to dive right in and become researchers, mathematicians and scientists. While reading the books, the get to see and hear how simple measurement and balancing works on their level. Not to mention learning new vocabulary and concepts. By using the inch and measuring worms and see through balancing buckets, they have the opportunity to get their hands on the materials and practice what the books showed them and experiment on their own. I've seen how new activities, books and manipulatives have had a positive impact and this project will only enhance my students love of learning!
