Geography is one of the most important courses that students need to learn. It is so much more than just memorizing country names and locations. However while my students learn about the many diverse cultures around the world I would be neglectful if they couldn't find where that place is in relationship to other places. Being geo-literate is a skill that is essential to becoming a responsible global citizen. Using a handheld paper atlas rather than a computer image helps the students make stronger connections as they touch the maps, flip through the pages, and use each day in class as a constant resource. I hope for the classes to use an atlas at their desk daily. "Geography is Everything and Everything is Geography!"
