The iPad I’ve selected for my classroom will help my students engage in a multitude of other resources accessible through the internet in addition to expanding on their academic and social skills. In our special education resource room, we do not have a SmartBoard or individual computers for learning. Currently, we use printed resources pre-selected for each activity. This can be an issue if the social skill that needs immediate attention with students is not the one selected for that days work. Additionally, if a student comes to my room for a break if they are having a tough day, the iPad can offer supportive and calming resources through different apps and websites. Having an iPad will help my students utilize social skills (turn taking, group sharing, etc.,) and explore digital resources that can be individualized to their unique needs.
