Creating a mindfulness room at Potter Elementary will assist children with childhood traumas such as lead poison, and behavioral disorders. Mindfulness activities will bring awareness and nonjudgmental acceptance of present-moment experiences. Many of the children are growing up in violent neighborhoods, poverty ridden homes. Children experiencing childhood traumas that has a major effect on the development of the brain. The reason for the mindfulness room is to take children out of the class room environment to give there brains a break, and to help them relax, meditate, and deescalate. This will help lower the overall school suspension rate, and give children.
