Students are using Lego Robots to learn basic programming of autonomous robots. Students learn basic coding principles in real world scenarios. Hands on designs and programming of robots prepare students for future STEM classes and creates interest in STEM careers. My 6th grade students will use these LEGO Robots to solve real world problems using problem solving skills and design principles. Students can program the LEGO robots with many different sensors so that it can interact and respond to objects the students need to manipulate. Students compete annually in the FIRST FLL contest that has a variety of missions that need to be accomplished by the LEGO EV3 robot. Students are challenged to explain their design and programming choices to judges. All these help teach the students bot soft and technical skills needed in today's technology driven world.
