I am a second grade teacher in a urban area where gentrification of our neighborhood has begun to displace our students of color. We are 1 of 4 schools in our district with over 50% of our population are students of color. Of those students 80%-85% of our population receive free or reduced lunch. Most of our parents and guardians are young ,single or grandparents. These demographics greatly contribute o our low parent involvement and participation in our students academics growth and achievement.

About my class
