Many of our students are unable or unwilling to discuss things that are going on in their home environment whether it be out of fear or shame or just not "having the right words." The dollhouse, dollhouse furniture and family dolls will give our students another means by which to express what is going on in their lives outside of school through dramatic play when the words will not come or are just too hard to share. So much can be learned about a student and their social/emotional state when they are offered an alternative means with which to express themselves. Dramatic play, to a student, seems a less invasive way to express themselves, but it can offer much-needed insight into what events might be affecting their ability to focus and learn at school.
