My elementary students come to see me to receive support to learn effective coping skills when they experience difficulties with interpersonal relationships, self-management skills, social skills and communication strategies. My school counseling room lacks play therapy tools for the visiting therapists who work with my students. Struggling students need an area with calming sensory items to improve the process to regulation so we can work together to enable the student to be ready to return ready to learn to his or her classroom. Our counseling department seeks to provide opportunities for our students to develop the Social and Emotional Learning Core Competencies to establish and maintain positive relationships, make positive decisions, set/achieve positive goals, and understand/manage their emotions. You can help us achieve these goals by supporting our project!
