My students are learning at a school with Low Socioeconomic Status. They are determined to learn to develop the love for reading but find it difficult at times when reading gets tough. They have dreams of what they want to become when they grow up. It would help if they could read more interesting books that will relate to them. Reading is a critical area for learning at my campus. We strive for the best to help the students reach success, but if we do not have enough books to interest them, they will not develop the love for reading. Texas has yearly state assessments that require our students to be able to read for comprehension and more understanding. For example a students is misbehaving during reading time simply because there is not a book available on his interest level. That student will find it difficult to learn to read and read to learn because he was not interested in the story books provided. Our students can read but we want them to love to read!
