My students love hands-on learning activities! Even in a Pre-K, play-based environment, they need to be able to think critically, learn problem solving skills, and work with others. With a variety of STEM materials for our classroom, such as Gears, Kinex, Building Sticks, and Magnetic Builders, my students would be able to explore and build to learn new concepts while having fun. These types of STEM activities involving experimentation, discovery, building or collecting things are great ways to teach our younger students. Since we have not received funding through our Pre-K Program, several of our classroom materials have become outdated. By providing my students with a different variety of STEM materials, I feel that I will be able to make education fun, relevant, hands-on, and achievable. I feel that it is also crucial that we allow our younger students to become 21st Century learners and develop the skills needed for a bright future. These new materials for our classroom would definitely assist in this area.
