It is so important for children to be able to play. They need chances to experiment with decision making, figuring out how to behave in the real world and practicing their social skills. Make-believe play is one of the best of ways to learn skills like communication, problem solving, and empathy. Not only does it allow us to work through positive experiences and feelings, they can work through negative ones too. It is said the kitchen is the heart of the home. There is no better place to pretend to be than in the kitchen. Our playroom has many options for pretend play from dolls, to a doctor's bag, to cars and LEGOS, to a Barbie house and more. Unfortunately, we had to get rid of our kitchen last year because it had suffered from being too well loved. They playroom just hasn't been the same without it. We would all be so happy to have one again! We are also lucky enough to have active/physical opportunities as well. Our punching bag is a favorite, but a trampoline is a constant request from students who visit. What a great way to get moving in a small space. Imagine playing catch while jumping, or jumping while talking out the day, or just being silly. Please help our playful dreams come true!
