The Social Work office should be a safe and therapeutic place for students. The room should incorporate play therapy and sensory items. Students could utilize these items as coping skills. Allowing them to calm down and prepare themselves to learn. 99% of my students are eligible for free lunch. They live in low income communities and are sometimes exposed to crime and violence. These student's live a sometimes chaotic and traumatic life. My office could be a refuge for them were they can feel safe and get ready to learn. I am asking for an iPod and headphones that scholars can use to alleviate stress with soothing music. They can relax on bean bag chairs, which will lay on a comfortable carpet. Lastly a play therapy sandbox is a great tactile tool to allow students to creatively express themselves. .
