Our school is classified as a Title-1 school. Over 80% of the students at this school are on free or reduced lunch. The majority of the school population is Hispanic, followed by African American and Asian. The school is located in a high poverty and crime area. Most of the students have never left the city in which they live. Most are unaware of a life that looks like anything that they experience day to day. Despite all of these factors, the students in our district do as well or better on state assessments than the rest of the state. Our staff and students are something to be very proud of. I am currently one of the language arts and social studies specialists at my school. My daily goal is to help create an environment that is text rich for our students. I strive to find unique experiences for our students that will enhance their learning and create positive memories for a lifetime!
