This year our school is using a new curriculum for Language Arts. In this curriculum students' vocabulary words are tied to the texts that we are reading and oftentimes students will need to use dictionaries to find the meaning of the words from the text. While I will be teaching them strategies like context clues, it is also important that students learn dictionary skills to check their definitions. My students will become dictionary detectives with your help and will learn a skill that will last them a lifetime! These dictionaries will be put to good use in the classroom and will be used multiple times per week. Currently we don't have enough dictionaries in the building for each class to have their own. This class set will help my 2nd graders each have their own dictionary to use during instructional time.
