Being able to play a sport authentically is the best way to learn a sport. Currently, the students are using tennis racquets for badminton because there is no funding. If provided with badminton racquets, the students will learn the skills needed such a proper grip of the racquet, serving, proper techniques, and using various angles of the racquet to make basic shots. Badminton can't be played with tennis racquets. It has a shorter and thicker handle and the head frame is much thicker. The badminton racquet is much lighter and easier to use. There is also a significant difference in the tension of the strings. A badminton racquet's tension should be between 17 - 24 pounds. By contrast, a tennis racquet should have a tension between 64 and 67 pounds. This discrepancy causes the birdie to react differently after being hit. Consequently, students cannot learn how to control the birdie correctly. If provided with badminton racquets, students will be taught all of the above skills the way it should be. They will take more ownership of their learning and be proud of themselves for truly learning a sport with the proper equipment. After all, it is impossible to learn badminton if students have not learned how to hold a badminton racquet!
