I teach 6th grade science and STEM in Northeast Florida. My classes are full of students who love learning in the best ways they know how. In my class, my students ask questions - good questions. Their curiosity overflows into their work. Their questions are valued, perhaps even more than their answers. When they're asking questions about what they are learning, I know they are engulfed in the material and want to know more. In my class, a variety of models are used. We use inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, peer-to-peer learning, direct instruction, and so on. I teach classes of differentiated learners; I teach individuals. I know I must cater to their needs academically and make learning a personalized goal. In my class, we are a community. We allow each other constant opportunities for practice and we build positive learning habits together. We feel safe. We learn. We grow. In my class, we succeed.
