In life science, the most important word is life. In 7th grade, we spend a lot of time discussing life and working on technology-based projects. With all this technology, my students discovered that something was missing from the way we learn: living things. We have a large space of about 10,000 sq. feet that we are beginning to convert into an outdoor garden space. Inside this space, we will experiment with different plants and also create a space for students to be able to go outside and read or work on assignments. As part of the garden, we want to build a chicken coop and hatch eggs to help our garden. By hatching and raising our own chickens, students will see the life cycle and how animals play a role in our ecosystem. The incubator and fencing supplies will help bring some life into our garden that we are beginning. By helping fund this project, you will help us bring life in the form of chickens to our garden.
