As a Physical Education Teacher and Head Boys Basketball Coach, I have two "classrooms". They both are located in the gym. In PE, my lessons focus on emphasizing the education element. Students take notes, to build that college skill. Students are introduced to new games and sports. There are several that my students are familiar with; but there are also a few that my students have never heard of, or would consider trying on their own. They take weekly and quarterly assessments to prove what they've learned. Our basketball team plays an uptempo, pressing style. I don't lead this team simply to teach Xs and Os, rather I lead these young men to teach them life lessons. Our team memorizes and exemplifies the five Cs of KIPP basketball. Creating Champions in the Classroom, on the Court, and in the Community is our motto. The five Cs and our school creed are building blocks of our program.
