The Apple iPad will be utilized as a vital tool used in the daily instruction of the Structured Learning Classroom. Each student will greatly benefit from the ability to use the iPad which will be loaded with apps designed for learning for individuals on the Autism Spectrum. Apps will assist each student during their learning rotation and will be those apps designed to target challenges in communication, literacy and mathematics.
Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder receive instruction critical for their future success when teachers utilize research based practices tailored to fit the unique and dynamic needs of learners with ASD. Both the current curriculum and supplemental online programming use these specific research-based practices. The online curriculum assists teachers in delivering instruction that ensures learners with exceptional needs are able to access the general curriculum of the school district while the supplemental programming provides research-based instruction designed to improve each student's academic, behavioral and academic functioning. The purchase of the Apple iPad will help to tie the District curriculum and supplemental online learning together by allowing students to further practice skills with Apps designed for individuals on the Spectrum.
