Middle school is full of children craving choices and the opportunity to voice their opinion. Middle school is also full of reluctant readers. Receiving sets of these books will provide my students with the opportunity to choose from novels that actually appeal to them. Many of the books available on my campus are more than 10 years old and don't catch the attention of my students. With the donation of these books, I hope to implement literature circles in my classroom. Literature circles give my students a choice in the novel they read and provide them with opportunities to reflect and respond critically to the text. Having novels that engage my students can make the biggest impact on their literacy skills and ultimately on their future.
