In the current pandemic environment, traditional music learning practices of learning singing and wind instrument (recorders) are not as safe in a classroom. Connecting music theory to a concrete music performance is key to understand the methods of reading and understanding music. Ukuleles, Kalimbas, Xylophones, & Digital tools are child-friendly, easily distributed, and easily cleaned. Translating what is presented on paper and screens to something that the students are actually creating with will connect them to their own music appreciation and hopefully a love for performing and creating their own music. For all grades 2nd through 8th I hope to have a learning environment that grows with them creatively, with the hope of fostering of love of creating music in all forms.
