This year, I want to challenge my students to not only see reading as a way to travel the world but also as an avenue to relate to people from all walks of life. The book Wonder by Raquel J. Palacio is a story of a young man who has a facial deformity and tries to assimilate to a public school environment. It details his challenges but also the challenges of other students on how to treat him with respect. It is a must read for everyone! With the state of the world today, I feel through the reading of this book, my students will be equipped with some of the tools to make the world a better place.
