My students really enjoy reading the articles in the Scope magazines because they are fun, engaging and applicable to the real world. Scope magazine activities are also differentiated so that each different level in our classroom is learning based on their individual needs. With Scope magazines, my students learn to build their 6th-grade Common Core skills of identifying and explaining text evidence, using text features and text structures to help understand a story. Our Scope magazines will also help us learn more about grammar, constructing an essay and writing an argument. Classes will read a Scope magazine every other week to build the reading, writing and language skills needed to meet the 6th-grade Common Core standards. The classes will listen to the audio version provided, partner read and complete the activities and quizzes.
