I am requesting cork strips for my classroom so that I may organize and hang the anchor charts on the walls for my students to utilize throughout the year. Research shows that by providing students with anchor charts throughout the classroom across all subjects, you can teach vocabulary, support skills and strategies, teach steps in a process, and teach a key concept, as you foster student independence at the same time. In my classroom, when a lesson is finished, the chart is displayed where it can "anchor" the students' thinking. Since the charts are individualized to our class, they usually include the students' input and thoughts. As they work independently, my students can refer back to the anchor charts as needed.
