I teach 10 and 11 year olds who are excited to come to school and love being in my classroom. I actively seek opportunities to take my 5th graders into the next level of computer technology. Incorporating project based education motivates students and helps them see how learning is applied the world. My students get involved in state government, work with the fire department to make our town safer, develop websites to help our residents learn about the different cultures in our town, and reach out to the elderly to write their memoirs. The students are of different nationalities and backgrounds but they work collaboratively and appreciate differences. My school is a neighborhood school with many students involved in after school activities. We follow the pillars of good character and look out for all of our citizens. I instill lessons that empower my students and they head off confident to middle school and beyond as engaged citizens who believe their voice is important and necessary.
